Laying the Infrastructure for a Secure Yet Rapid Movement of Data

Immuta, the data security experts, has officially announced the launch of a new Data Marketplace solution, which is designed to facilitate fast and safe internal data sharing.

According to certain reports, this data marketplace will be owned and managed by the customer. As for what it will do from a practical standpoint, the answer resides in its ability to package together data teams and data users to automate discovery and access, while simultaneously providing enterprise-grade governance and security. The overarching idea behind doing so is to enable rapid and data-driven decisions.

More on the same would reveal how Immuta’s new Data Marketplace streamlines the entire data access provisioning process across multiple data sources and platforms. You see, right from request and approval to access, the solution consistently ensures safe collaboration at every single juncture.

Before we get any further into the given solution, though, we must acknowledge that, despite the fact that organizations today need efficient data access to make better and faster decisions, they often run into a challenge of IT governance bureaucracy, as well as the limitations and inefficiencies posed by existing identity management workflows. This directly translates to a waiting period worth multiple months for data access to be provisioned.

Taking a deeper view of the ways in which Immuta’s new technology will address such a conundrum, we begin from the promise to simplify data sharing. Basically, by providing a user-friendly interface for data product owners to publish and share their data products, the solution allows for data consumers to find and access the required solutions in a more secure and efficient manner.

Almost like an extension of that, the next feature in play would be accelerated data access. With automated data access workflows, the new marketplace should be able to eliminate bottlenecks and delayed access of data. Not just that, these workflows can also be expected to foster collaboration and speed up processes, which typically take months, to near real-time.

“In order to build a connected trip experience for our travelers, data silos across the business had to be eliminated. Attribute and purpose based fine grained access control was central in building a safe and governed experience, where our customers could interact with various products across the business in a truly seamless and connected fashion through our internal data marketplace (BDX),” said Abhro Bhaduri, Group Product Manager at booking.com. “Immuta is revolutionary in the way that it allows our data producers to enforce additional fine grained access controls within the permission boundaries defined by Booking.com’s global DataGov functions.”

Then, there is the prospect of enhancing security and governance. This the solution will do on the back of robust data access governance capabilities that can keep sensitive data protected at all times, empowering users to maintain complete control over their data across all connected platforms. Joining that would be a facility to integrate data catalogs and drive new data product creation using data assets. Such a component can help a builder use their data catalog to understand data products’ technical details, but not without requesting access to them through the marketplace, just like any other consumer.

Finally, our last piece of highlight is inspired by the improved prospects for collaboration. Basically, through more effective collaboration between data producers and consumers, the marketplace will drive data-driven innovation, while simultaneously ensuring that data stewards and governors can easily manage approvals and compliance.

“The launch of the new Data Marketplace solution built on the Immuta Platform marks an exciting expansion of our support for enterprises trying to decentralize data control and accelerate data use across their organizations,” said Matthew Carroll, Co-founder and CEO of Immuta. “With best-in-class data security capabilities embedded in the platform, alongside powerful integrations with key data ecosystem players like Databricks and Snowflake, we’re providing data stewards with embedded end-to-end workflows to approve and provision data access safely and at scale so the data consumer can easily find and access the data they need, when they need it.
